The Bet

What if someone bets that Helga can't be nice to Arnold when he finally loses his patience with her? And when Arnold finds out it's a bet after a week or so he gets madder. But then Helga says she did mean to be nice even though not at first, they make up, blah blah. Something like that?

Or maybe someone bets Helga that she can't bully or be crabby to Arnold (meaning no spitballs, no calling "FootballHead", no pranks, yelling at him, etc for a full week?

If anyone bets that on her, I'm thinking either Harold or Rhonda might be the ones who bet her. Or maybe both Harold and Rhonda bet her together?

hah I imagined the precious grimase of Helga when she tries to make a spitball but suddenly Harold (Rhonda) reminds her of the bet. She becomes very angry and tries to be calm by the thought "Okay, I'll get 10 dollars in return".
And of cause towards the end she won't get anything

I wonder if Helga would react to a bet like that.. I think her pride is worth more than 10 bucks XD

Maybe the whole gang can start a bet with instead of Rhonda and Harold only.

Like the story can start off with each HA! gang seeing Helga bully Arnold repeatedly. Then afterwards, Stinky, Sid, Harold, Rhonda etc. are just outside in the tables when they see Helga bully Arnold once again and someone can start a conversation about having a bet with Helga if she can be nice to Arnold for 3 days or something.

And maybe Helga WILL agree to the bet cuz maybe she WANTS to be nice to Arnold and have a fresh start with him ;]

But then at the end of the bet, Helga once again starts being a bully to Arnold

Hmm...I don't think the motive is to please Arnold...(it's can be possibly her dream but in the canon she always flats)
It will be embarrassing for her when her classmates suggest this bet.
The premise should be a question like "Maybe you don't want because you like him?". Thus she will do it only to prove that she hates him truly and can play their game...

Love the idea. Maybe Helga accepts the bet by peer pressure, like Helga's Makeover

Helga: Yea, so?
Sid: I thought girls are meant to be kind and gentle
Rhonda: Please, Helga kind and gentle that's just hilarious
Helga: I don't see what's so funny. I can be nice when I wanna be
Rhonda: Sounds like a bet
Helga: I guess it is
Rhonda: I bet you twenty bucks that you wouldn't physically and verbally bully him.
Helga: It's a deal.

I wonder how Arnold will react to Helga's 'niceness' xD

There should not be too many people knowing about the bet, and of course no boys. How about Rhonda daring Helga, and their best friends Nadine and Phoebe witnessing it? But still it's difficult for me to imagine why Helga would be interested in the bet. Maybe it should be a double bet? I.e. while Helga is supposed to be nice, Rhonda is supposed to do something too (to not make remarks about fashion, or to not boast of her wealth); the first who snaps is the loser.

Maybe for a quick period of time they become friends? And helga shows her true feelings , or her "Hilda" And Arnold starts to trust her when Lila tells him it's a bet and he thinks it's all a lie? Does anyone like this idea?

Well maybe Arnold could try to avoid Helga for awhile even though she's trying to be nice to him.
Then afterwards, Arnold trusts Helga.

And i dont know if Lila should be the one to tell Arnold that its a bet.

I think Hellerick's got a point that it should be a double bet.
I would take it to the next level with Helga's terms of the bet for Rhonda, i.e. Rhonda has to make a "fashion faux pas" everyday for a week.

The one who loses the bet has to kiss in public the boy they consider most disgusting: Arnold and Curly respectively

lol, Helga would probably lose on purpose, and then Arnold would be in a very awkward position because he pretty much already knows that Helga already like-likes him.

I am not sure that Helga would be willing to kiss Arnold in public, even if she had an excuse for the people who knew about the bet. I guess she would have a storm of mixed emotions about the matter.

Well, she did have an entire audience during the "School Play" episode. But I could see her having more difficulty kissing him in public as Helga rather than as Juliet.
Still, I could see her just closing her eyes and diving in. She would probably have a cat. 5 hurricane of mixed emotions (a storm of emotions is an understatement for Helga lol).
I don't know what she would have to say or do to get Arnold to agree to be kissed. He would probably have to be tricked into it.

I agree, but she can't just go up to Arnold and start kissing him. He'd back off or run away or something.
I guess she could corner him like she did in the movie, or maybe Rhonda and someone else could sneak up behind him, hold him in place, and then Helga could make her move. I think finding a clever way into tricking Arnold into it would be funny. He doesn't necessarily have to know that he's going to get kissed either.

Poor Arnold XDD First she's acting so nice and sweet, and then she starts KISSING him?! He'd loose his mind Or worse, what if he'd fall in love with her poor guy XD

Yeah, Helga can't decide whether kissing Arnold is worth of dying of humiliation... But she sees that something is going to happen -- something that will make Rhonda lose, and then she suddenly snaps for a silly reason, even more suddenly kisses Arnold, and runs away leaving dumbfounded class behind.

Maybe they [Rhonda and/or Harold] won't reveal to PS 118 those pictures of Helga with her teddy bear, ballet dancing, etc (the ones that Sid took of Helga using his throw away camera in The Big Scoop).

Alternatevely [Rhonda and/or Harold] can manipulate Helga by spreading gossips that she likes Arnold.
