I wish I could see the video! Ah. Right now I'm in Puerto Rico, and the relatives I'm visiting that DO have computers/Internet access don't really have it updated... Or my mother starts telling me to get off within 3 minutes of being on. Meh.
I can still work on some art though. =]

Okay, thanks Retromanka.

I don't think that we'll be able to use it in this particular trailer because of the way it's being edited together. So, we'll use it in an alternate trailer that we can start putting together in February. Or maybe in a teaser trailer about a specific episode.

They aren't very big files (<4 MB each). Can I email them to you?

Edit
I did upload the video to esnips, if you'd like to stream it: http://www.esnips.com/doc/89665bc0-0195-4578-bd86-bacf78820ac4/Trailer-rough-edit-2

There's also an option to download the video from esnips, but it apparently only downloads as an flv file. If you have some kind of conversion software you could convert it...but the quality probably won't be as good as my original wmv file.

I also uploaded the mp3 of the sped up version of the song to esnips. http://www.esnips.com/doc/5b840f48-62ba-4d33-85f9-4724a3ff4fed/13---A-Beautiful-Mine-adj-v2

I'll start recording the narration asap.

Yes, it would probably be a good idea. I was thinking it could go at the very last slide.

btw, I finished recording the narration and I'm mixing it with the music right now. It should be ready within a few minutes.

Ok, here's the trailer with narration instead of text. I tried it with two different microphones (they're both pretty crappy mics, but it's really all I have to work with). So, please tell me which mic to use for the final version.

Trailer with mic 1: http://rapidshare.com/files/327765558/Trailer_with_narration_mic_1.wmv

Trailer with mic 2: http://rapidshare.com/files/327764670/Trailer_with_narration_mic_2_v2.wmv

The only line I really changed was "HA6S presents..." because I think it's a little awkward saying "HA6S" out loud.
Also, does anyone know how I should pronounce 2010? Should it be pronounced like "Two Thousand Ten" or like "Twenty Ten"?

Tendra, I'll post a narrated version with the music shifted. We'll probably have to do some additional editing due to the timing anyway. I noticed it seems to take a really long time to get from one slide to the next toward the end of the video (i.e. it takes a long time to get from "Follow Arnold" to "Helga", etc.)

Oooooo I definitely like the second one!!!

"Two Thousand and Ten" sounds more natural to me than does "Twenty Ten". I would stick to how you're pronouncing it right now.

And yeah, some additional editing is needed. There are some awkward gaps of silence in there, but no problem; we can fix that. Trailer Script/Artwork - Page 2 Icon_biggrin

I kinda realized that the screenshot for when you say "Hey Arnold Season 6 the Comic" (i.e. where we show the edited script) is kinda awkward. It doesn't really fit with me. Perhaps we can show a collage of screenshots showing the development of a comic from script to finish? Here's a pic of what I mean:

Trailer Script/Artwork - Page 2 Comic_10

Or maybe even a pic of the logo? Or even both? So have the logo for when you say "Hey Arnold Season 6", and then the comic making progress when you say "The Comic"

Ok, cool. I'll use the second microphone the next time I record it.
Next time I record it, I'll try to speak a bit louder. I had to turn the music down a little bit so that you could hear the narration with mic 2, but it's still kind of hard to hear in some places. It would also probably help if I stand up (I was sitting down while I recorded the second track.)

That's a great idea! Very Happy I knew something wasn't quite right about the script at that point, but I didn't know what else to use there. I'll definitely use that collage.

I really like it! Very Happy

Maybe we could use it to replace the slide toward the end of the trailer (~1:17 in the latest version of the trailer) that just says "Hey Arnold! Season 6".

If that sounds good, can you make another one in the same style that says "Coming Fall 2010"?

Also, I just thought of something that might be cool to do with this (if it's possible). Would it be possible to make it into a short animation, so that initially all you see on the screen is "Hey Arnold! Season 6", but then "The Comic" comes floating into frame (or pops into frame, or something like that). Does anyone know how to do that? Question

Looks great! Thanks!

Tendra, the animated gif looks great too, but in order to put it into the video I had to convert it into a wmv format. I didn't have any trouble doing that, but the resulting video is only ~370 milliseconds (which is less than half of 1 second).
I was able to slow down the gif animation, but as soon as I converted it to a wmv, it reverted back to the 370 ms length. I'll keep working on it, but I can't guarantee that I'll get it to work Neutral
370 ms just looks like a quick flash on the screen.

Another thing we can try is putting the wmv file in slow motion. The only problem with that, is I don't have any video editing software that is capable of slowing down clips.
If anyone else does, here's the wmv file I created...maybe you could give it a try Question

Here is the credit slide that can go at the very end of the trailer. I based this off of an actual movie trailer.

https://i.servimg.com/u/f16/13/86/34/72/credit13.jpg

Please take a look at it and let me know what you think. I used the names of the people working on the first episode project, since those are the only clips that went into making this trailer. I couldn't remember who did the editing, though.
Am I missing anyone else? Is this how you would like your name to appear in the credits? Do you think I should make the background white with black text, or do you like it the way it is?

Also I didn't have any luck in shortening out that animation, Tendra. So, I think someone else is going to have to try it with some better video editing software, or we won't be able to use it pale

You're using Windows Movie Maker, right Funnybones?

I tried importing the video in WMM as the GIF sequence file, and it worked. Did a window pop up for you saying the file is incompatible or were you just unable to find the file while trying to upload it? If the latter is the case, just enter "All Files" under the tab "Files of Type". The only problem I see with uploading it is that I think the logo is too wide, so it's squished <_<

Anyway, I imported it in WMM and then exported it as a wmv. file in case it you still can't upload it. Here we go:

http://rapidshare.com/files/329076867/Animation_Logo.wmv.html

(It should be 1.33 seconds long) Let me know how that works Very Happy

Yep, I'm using windows movie maker

The problem I had before when I tried importing the gif, was that it wouldn't animate once I imported it. It's possible that I imported the wrong file before, though, because I tried it again and it works fine.

It's still a bit too short, though. It's probably going to have to be 3-4 seconds long. Would you be able to extend it a little bit longer (maybe just the last frame)?

There are still some other timing issues that I need to work out, but I'm waiting to get the artwork from the 3 missing scenes in the trailer before I start working out timing issues (at 42 s, 46 s, and 1:12 of the latest version).

I'll upload the latest version of the trailer, but first let me point out the changes I made and the time in bold parentheses:

  • Full screen animation was added (1:16).
  • The jpeg (widescreen) still of the final frame of this animation was inserted right behind the animation keep the soundtrack in sync with the video. Obviously, it doesn't look quite right, but it's just a place holder for now (1:18)
  • A higher quality version of the HA! title card was added (0:27)
  • Another updated version of the credits was added (1:26)

Things that still need to be done:

  • Artwork for 0:42, 0:46, and 1:12
  • Increase the length of Lyxy/Tendra's animation
  • Un-squish the "Coming Fall 2009" slide to match the animation (Tendra, could you do this? I have no idea how you did it.)
  • Adjust the timing of all the different clips
  • Re-record the narration for clarity and so it's in sync with the video.
  • Make a few adjustments to the music, and see which version is best
  • Publish video!

Okay, so here's the latest version:

Sure, I can reanimate it Trailer Script/Artwork - Page 2 Icon_biggrin

I noticed that the screencaps you used for "Hey Arnold Season 6 The Comic" and "Coming Fall 2010" look a bit different (i.e. the shade of yellow is different and there's some shading I noticed). Is it alright if I use that version?

Also, before I remake it, what background should we use? Do we leave it white or did we want black? Or should we use a pattern?
E.g:
Trailer Script/Artwork - Page 2 4_69_i11

I couldn't get the background by itself, and without the Nickelodeon logo in one of the corners. If you want to use this background, can you get me a screencap of it without the logo on it? I can smack the two pictures together then.

One last thing: since it looks like we're using the pic that says "Hey Arnold Season 6 The Comic", we should probably say "HA! Season 6 The Comic" instead of just "Hey Arnold Season 6". That way that the animation becomes more fitting.

Yes, of course. Use which ever version you'd like.

Are you referring to the narration here? I'll be sure to say "Hey Arnold! Season 6", then I'll wait for "The Comic" to land in place before I say that part of the narration.

Well, I'm not really sure what should go at 0:42. At that point in the video, the narration says "New Situations"...so I guess something situational, lol. I think pretty much anything would work there, so feel free to be creative.

At 0:46 I think it would be good to have Helga holding her locket and running through one of her dramatic soliloquies.

At 1:12 the narration says "[Follow] the rest of the gang through mishaps, mayhem, and adventure", so probably a piece with a group of people together...maybe Harold, Stinky, and Sid getting into some kind of mischief; or maybe even the boarders with Grandma and Grandpa. The focus of this scene of the trailer can be of anyone except Arnold, Gerald, and Helga (they can be in the scene, but the scene shouldn't be focused on any of the main three).
