Oh, I just noticed from your previous post that you gave people drawings to do... I kind of just did random-ish ones. Haha.

That's okay, danettemarie. Go ahead and submit them anyway. We can certainly use them for a future trailer, or something else.

Okay, I put everything I have together. Here's the trailer so far
Download: megaupload.com U9CU7QT4
Stream: http://www.esnips.com/doc/6ec9d25a-b8c9-45d6-92fa-9267cfc1d423/Trailer-with-narration-mic-2-v7

Here are the changes I made so far

  • And a football shaped head (0:22)
  • New Situations (~0:42)
  • I swapped out Eugene riding his bike for this piece by lyxy (~0:50) Does that look okay?
  • And the rest of the gang... (1:12)

What do you think? I think it's looking good, and we're almost finished.

I think that I'll re-record the narration today and try to get the timing straightened out.
I was watching the trailer a few more times, and I think it's actually timed out okay at Arnold and Helga's clips (at 0:55 and 1:01) because those are very important parts of this trailer. At first they seemed a little too long to me, but I think it's kind of important to let the audience soak it all up lol.

I'll post the re-recorded narration later today. There will probably be a couple of different versions with different timing/narration, and everyone can just tell me which one you like the best.

I re-recorded the narration and mixed a few different versions with the music to get our final video soundtrack.
As usual, if you want to stream the video, the quality will be a lot lower than if you download it...and lower than the final version on youtube.

Here is the video without any changes to the timing. The only difference between this and the other versions is I turned up the volume on my microphone a bit so it's easier to hear my voice over the music.
Stream: http://www.esnips.com/doc/d370e4e9-e4d9-4459-8a48-6ed0b37c146d/HA6S-Trailer-v8
Download: I'm not sure why, but megaupload won't let me upload this particular file. If you want to download it, let me know and I'll email it to you.

Here is a version that is pretty much the same as above, except that I put a little more emphasis on the word "never" in "...like you've never seen them before."
Stream: http://www.esnips.com/doc/64f2696b-2782-46e8-8fef-7ef9c0d3abab/HA6S-Trailer-v9
Download: megaupload.com ECYL9NT4

Here is a much shorter version, in which I adjusted the timing of the clips at the beginning and middle of the video. I also adjusted the music in this version.
Stream: http://www.esnips.com/doc/45f7d0d3-0d4a-4209-8317-81f0a9344c32/HA6S-Trailer-v10
Download: megaupload.com V31RKOHT

Please tell me which version you like and if you think we need to make any adjustments.

Wow, this looks really good! And the artwork is amazing you guys! Personally, I like how you did the emphasis on "never".

It's in reference to the kind of sarcastic tone I used when I said "...like you've never seen [Hey Arnold!] before."

Does everything sound clear enough to understand? Can everyone understand my West Coast accent? lol

(No, your West Coast accent is too weird!!! D: lol j/k j/k)

Great job on the videos. It's hard to pick one lol

With version 9 (the middle one), I really like the song piece and how it matches the beginning and intro. And the pace throughout the video is even, so that's good too.

But I also reeaally like the pacing of version 10 (last one). It was nice and smoothly said in one go, making it was a bit easier to hear. But the new pace didn't match with the pace of "Arnold...Helga... Gerald...ect.", so it threw me off a little bit there.

Ideally, I would say keep the intro and ending of version 9, but keep the new pace of version 10. But I know that takes extra time and effort. What we can do is release one of the three you posted up here, and at a later date, post up a newly edited version of it if we ever feel like it. So if I were to choose 1 of the 3 up there, I would stick with Version 8 (first one) or version 9 (middle one). It doesn't really matter to me whether or not "never" is emphasized, because the whole thing is still beautiful with or without it. :3

Re: Trailer Script/Artwork

Post by funnybones021 on Wed Jan 20, 2010 1:28 am

When I was in Louisiana a couple of years ago, I was ordering something at a restaurant and the waitress asked me to slow down because she couldn't understand my accent lol. I never thought of myself as having an accent before that, but I found out later that technically the west coast (and even the pacific northwest) has a distinct accent. I guess everyone technically has an accent, though.

Anyway, enough about that. I tried matching the pace of the end of version 10 with the rest of the video. Here was my main problem with that, though. I couldn't find a good edit point in the music. Increasing the tempo toward the end of the video, obviously shortens the video quite a bit more...and it left kind of an abrupt end to the music, even with a pretty aggressive fade out. Any ideas?

If we do choose between 8 and 9, I think we should go with 9. That seems to be the general consensus so far.

Re: Trailer Script/Artwork

If we could make a second one (possiblaly later in the series) we could prabably make a trailer full of HA! or ha6s fanart or some comics using the song "Alright" by Supergrass.

Exept the "soke a fag part" I think it somewhat fits it due to the fact it says stuff about hanging out with friends and such.

I now this is early to think about but ill probally forget it by the time we made our 10'th ep.

Just throwing ideas

Ok, I changed my strategy a little bit and shortened those Arnold, Helga, Gerald clips.
I think it's smoother, and the music sounds pretty good, and I think it's closer to what you had in mind, Tendra. Also, I think I was able to get rid of the awkward edit point.

Here's the download for the new shorter version with just the music. I can record the narration to go with it tomorrow if everybody likes this version.
megaupload.com VNW2KEMH

So, should I record narration to this one, or should we stick with version 9?

I like this new one because of when the music plays and the shortened Arnold, Helga, Gerald.
It also just feels smoother to me.

I re-re-recorded the narration (sorry it took so long). Here's the latest version (version 12): megaupload.com 64O57DPN

I have been in and out of meetings and going through the customer service hell of united airlines all evening; so if my voice sounds frustrated you know why. Please let me know if you don't like it, I can definitely record another version (probably tomorrow).

This is the same version as I posted before (version 11 with the Arnold, Helga, Gerald bit shortened), except this time I added the narration track. If everyone is happy with the narration, I think it will be ready to upload to youtube/facebook. Unless anyone has any other suggestions???

Awesome. Pure awesome. That looks just great Funnybones, job well done! Very Happy

I was thinking that maybe we could release the lastest version out now, and then release Version 9 (or 8 ) out at a later date as a quick reminder (similar to how people "bump" old forum threads)

So we're releasing it on YT and then linking it on Facebook and Twitter, ect? Just a quick question, did we want to upload the video on just one account (i.e. the HA6S channel), or allow other people to upload it as well (e.g. allow people to upload the video on their personal YT accounts in addition to the HA6S YT channel)?

Re: Trailer Script/Artwork

Ok, great. I will upload the video to the HA6S YT channel. We can actually also upload the video directly to the facebook page, but I'll provide a link to the youtube channel as well.

As far as permissions on youtube go, I think we should keep the video limited to the HA6S youtube channel for a few days. That way, we can immediately answer any questions people have or we can keep an eye on all of the initial statistical stuff. After a few days I think it would be okay to let any HA6S staff members post the video to their own channel...probably along with some links to the wordpress site and to the HA6S channel. I think we should always limit the uploads to HA6S staff members, though.
Personally, I hadn't intended to upload the video to my Youtube channel, but I can if you want (I have quite a bit more subscribers than the HA6S channel does).

Outside of youtube, I think it's okay for staff members to upload it immediately wherever they think it's appropriate.
What do you think?

Btw, I'll provide the links to the video in this post when I have them.
