Trailer Script/Artwork
In this thread, writers, artists, and editors can discuss ideas for the script, artwork, music, narration etc. that will go into the HA6S theatrical trailer.
Important
You are also free to post and discuss any artwork you would like to contribute to the trailer here. We do plan to use small, zoomed in sections of finished comic pages in the trailer, but we aren't going to use entire comic pages (we don't want to ruin the story). So, if you'd like to reference an entire comic page, it would probably be best to provide a link to the original post by the original artist...that way we won't be posting entire finished pages of the comic in this public sub-forum.
Script
Here's the script that we have so far. I'll edit this post as we continue to get more feedback about the script, that way the most recent version of the script can always be found here at the top of this thread.

The mood is supposed to start out kind of mysterious and then it turns to more of a happy, light-hearted mood after this line "...and a football shaped head".

I would like to help for that

Re: Trailer Script/Artwork
Okay. So far for the artists I have Tendra, Lyxy, Danettemarie, and Retromanka.
We also have these pieces submitted by Tendra:
http://tendraheyarnold.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/stinky-0011.jpg
https://i.servimg.com/u/f91/13/81/29/69/scribb10.jpg
The second link is just a page of a script with some hand-written notes. I'm not sure how exactly we could use that, but it's here if we want to use it.

Mmm...could it be like shoot through all page of the script, stop, zoom to sides and "swim" to next shot without changing it.

Re: Trailer Script/Artwork
Yes, we could do something like that, as long as we're not giving away any major plots. So, it would have to be on a fairly uneventful page.
The only problem is that we're kind of limited by our video editing software right now. Ger5632 has Sony Vegas and I can get a trial version of Adobe After Effects, but we don't really know how to use the software lol.
So, all of that kind of editing might have to be done in photoshop or maybe even paint...if we can't figure out how to use our software.

You might enjoy some "backgrounds" in progress pictures which you can find in this thread: https://ha6s.forumotion.com/episode-1-project-photography-urban-legend-f9/backgrounds-t242.htm#2936
Re: Trailer Script/Artwork
Thanks Tendra
I think we can start putting things together, but we definitely could still use more art pieces.
I do have one question for everyone:
What music do we want to use for this trailer? I suggested having the song "A Beautiful Mine", but we don't have to use that song if you guys want to use something different.
I think we decided that we are going to have spoken narration (using my voice, unless someone else would like to do it). Any objections to that?
I also have a question for Retromanka: are you working on a city street? I think that would be great in the trailer; so if you'd like to start on that we can get it into the video as soon as you're done. Also, feel free to add anything else you'd like.
ger5632, did you have any specific ideas for how we should edit the trailer? If we do end up using the "A Beautiful Mine" song, then I'd like to slightly speed up the audio track before it goes into the video. I'll start putting together a collection of clips that we can use and then make a rough edit and post it here.

Re: Trailer Script/Artwork
I finished a very rough edit of the trailer.
Here are a few things I want to mention before you watch the video:
You can download this trailer via rapidshare from this link: http://rapidshare.com/files/326785935/Trailer_rough_edit_2.wmv
Apparently, this link is only valid for 10 downloads. Let me know if you can't download the file anymore and I'll reupload it.
This is a wmv file. If you can't view wmv files, please let me know and I'll try to convert it and upload something that you can view.
Here are a few things I want to mention before you watch the video:
- For this video I assumed we are using "A Beautiful Mine" as the music.
- I'll be out of town until at least this Tuesday and I don't have access to a microphone, so all of the spoken narration is temporarily replaced with text. Anything in parentheses are my own notes.
- Marty, I replaced the music of your animation with the intro of "A Beautiful Mine"...the Coltrane song was really good, but I didn't think that it flowed very well into the trailer's soundtrack. It seemed like the change was too abrupt.
- Most importantly--There are several screen shots, especially at the beginning. These are just some of my suggestions. I think we should try to keep everything original by replacing the screen shots with original fanart, even if they're just simple sketches. But, I'm okay with using screen shots in the trailer if no one wants to work on the art.
There are also a couple of places in the middle where I didn't know what images to use. I would really appreciate feedback...and if anyone wants to work on some images that would work well there, please feel free to do so.

Re: Trailer Script/Artwork
:3 I love that Beautiful Mine song. I'm attached to it lol
I listened to the full version and noticed that there's a slow beat in the very beginning. You said that the mood of the trailer was supposed to mysterious up to the point "and a football-shaped head", right? (BTW, I LOVE the screenshot you put for that part XDDDD) How about shifting the song a bit so that the slow part of the song plays up to that point.
I played around with the audio of your trailer (looks pretty good so far!), so here's an example of what I mean:
http://rapidshare.com/files/326854099/Trailer__3.wmv.html
I know that shifting the song messes the ending up, so again I'm not sure.
I'll give suggestions for pictures as soon as I think of them.

Re: Trailer Script/Artwork
Okay, then I'll stop worrying about which music to use. We'll stick with "A Beautiful Mine".
Before we get too deep into discussions about the music, though, I need to point out that we're going to have to speed up the track. I think it sounds fine when the audio is sped up...and it's pretty much an essential step. So, I uploaded the entire sped up track here: http://rapidshare.com/files/326872052/13_-_A_Beautiful_Mine_adj_v2.mp3
I did consider starting out with the slow tempo at the beginning of the song to go with the beginning of the trailer. But, I really liked the way the trailer ended.
Listen to my trailer (which already has the sped up audio) at ~1:21. At that point you'll notice a roll on the snare drum which coincides exactly with the switch from the "Hey Arnold! Season 6" slide to the "Coming Fall 2010" slide. I really liked the feel of that ending.
However, the slow tempo intro the way you adjusted it would also work out great (although, I think I would need to add a linear fade-in to the soundtrack regardless of what we decide to do).
What I can do is post both versions here after I get the narration recorded...it might become a little more clear once that's done.
Oh, and I loved the screenshot for the football shaped head part too. I think it would be really cool to have an artist's recreation of Arnold's expression for that scene of the trailer; but my favorite is the screenshot with Pigeon Man. I would love to see someone re-draw that screenshot

Re: Trailer Script/Artwork
I wish I could see the video! Ah. Right now I'm in Puerto Rico, and the relatives I'm visiting that DO have computers/Internet access don't really have it updated... Or my mother starts telling me to get off within 3 minutes of being on. Meh.
I can still work on some art though. =]

Re: Trailer Script/Artwork
Okay, thanks Retromanka.
I don't think that we'll be able to use it in this particular trailer because of the way it's being edited together. So, we'll use it in an alternate trailer that we can start putting together in February. Or maybe in a teaser trailer about a specific episode.

Re: Trailer Script/Artwork
They aren't very big files (<4 MB each). Can I email them to you?
Edit
I did upload the video to esnips, if you'd like to stream it: http://www.esnips.com/doc/89665bc0-0195-4578-bd86-bacf78820ac4/Trailer-rough-edit-2
There's also an option to download the video from esnips, but it apparently only downloads as an flv file. If you have some kind of conversion software you could convert it...but the quality probably won't be as good as my original wmv file.
I also uploaded the mp3 of the sped up version of the song to esnips. http://www.esnips.com/doc/5b840f48-62ba-4d33-85f9-4724a3ff4fed/13---A-Beautiful-Mine-adj-v2
I'll start recording the narration asap.

Yeah, I like how the trailer ends as well
The discussion going over in the website basic layout just made me think of something: should we insert a disclaimer at the end of this trailer as well?
Re: Trailer Script/Artwork
Yes, it would probably be a good idea. I was thinking it could go at the very last slide.
btw, I finished recording the narration and I'm mixing it with the music right now. It should be ready within a few minutes.

Re: Trailer Script/Artwork
Ok, here's the trailer with narration instead of text. I tried it with two different microphones (they're both pretty crappy mics, but it's really all I have to work with). So, please tell me which mic to use for the final version.
Trailer with mic 1: http://rapidshare.com/files/327765558/Trailer_with_narration_mic_1.wmv
Trailer with mic 2: http://rapidshare.com/files/327764670/Trailer_with_narration_mic_2_v2.wmv
The only line I really changed was "HA6S presents..." because I think it's a little awkward saying "HA6S" out loud.
Also, does anyone know how I should pronounce 2010? Should it be pronounced like "Two Thousand Ten" or like "Twenty Ten"?
Tendra, I'll post a narrated version with the music shifted. We'll probably have to do some additional editing due to the timing anyway. I noticed it seems to take a really long time to get from one slide to the next toward the end of the video (i.e. it takes a long time to get from "Follow Arnold" to "Helga", etc.)
