"Stuck with Lila"

-Craig Bartlett quoted that without Arnold in the way, Lila and Helga would likely become friends. (He had that idea for The Patakis.)
-Helga mentioned as first of the kids that hurt Lila in "Little Miss Perfect" that she actually likes her.

Helga and Lila have to work together when they get locked in the school. (Or they for a school object, or because they get in danger.)
Helga actually notices Lila has her faults as well, and in the end they make a tiny step towards friendship (especially Helga). And Helga should learn that Lila and her sister are in fact, different. (F. ex. : Lila doesn't cry that fast)

This could be a great opportunity to develop Lila a little bit more as well as Helga. Maybe even in terms of her relationship to Olga. Anyway, the development should be tiny. Escpecially towards her sister, since she is supposed to still think Olga is a dork in "The Patakis".

These are my thoughts, I'm still not good in creating complete complex plotlines and I want to ask you if you like this idea anyway.

I think making an episode where we develop Helga and Lila's relationship a little bit more would be good! Do a little prep work for the Patakis XD I actually want to stick Arnold in the mix there, because that seems to be the main reason why Helga dislikes Lila (because Arnold likes her). But having an episode where it's just Helga and Lila, with Arnold out of the picture, might do them some good.

lol For some reason, this is how I see Lila and Helga being paired up (like, for a school project or something)
Simmons: Okay, let's see... I'll have Lila paired up with...
Helga (to herself): Please not Arnold... please not Arnold...
Simmons: Arnold!
Helga: What?!
Simmons: Oh wait, sorry, I read the wrong line. Helga, you're with Lila.
Helga: WHAT?!?!

I agree that we should totally expand on Lila's character. Putting Arnold completely aside, I think some of the things about Lila that irks Helga is her "ever so" fluffy, optimistic personality that is blind to all the negative things to the world. We know (and Helga should know) that that isn't completely true, because Lila is facing a very negative issue at home: poverty. I think maybe reminding Helga that Lila isn't completely perfect again would be something as well.

I would imagine Helga and Lila being stuck in school, with Helga focussing on all the negative aspects and Lila focussing on all the positive aspects of the situation. And, in a final confrontation or something, we see that Lila does acknowledge the bad things that are happening, but simply chooses to focus on the good things. But I'm not too sure about this, myself, because I'm not completely sure how Lila's mind exactly works.

Hmmm... I like this. It sounds interesting. I did always find it sad how Helga actually DID like Lila in the beginning, but then when Arnold started like-liking her, Helga all of a sudden despised her.

Oh! You know what might be funny? If Lila was a hugger. XD Maybe around the end, Helga could say something like, "I guess you're not so bad after all." and then Lila gets all sentimental on her. lol

I could picture all the sappy looks on their faces, but then when Lila hugs her, it's like- *Explosion*

By the way, you know, I just watched the episode "School play" again. I read somewhere here that Helga tells Lila she likes Arnold and Lila knows ever since. But after watching that part again, here it begins after 5 minutes:

I realized just how clear Helga said she was actually in LOVE with Arnold!

We could use this to make Helga overcome a lot of her hate for Lila.
Imagine Helga mentioning how much Lila must enjoy Arnold running after her. In the end, Lila gets a serious look on her face and actually confronts Helga.

Lila: "Stop it Helga, I've heard enough. All the fear you have that you might loose Arnold to me is ever so ridiculous!"
Helga: "Fear? Me? Now you're the one being ridiculous, I don't have any fear, I don't care at all!"
Lila: "*sighs* Yeah, right. Don't you remember the school play?"
Helga: "I might. So what's your point?"
Lila: "I had no problem at all giving you the role of Juliet.. so you could kiss Arnold."
*Helga's eyes widen and she looks in shock.*
Lila: "Don't you see I support your love for him? And I also never told him about it, though there were quite a few times where I really wanted to."
Helga: "Quite a few times?"
Lila: "Yes. It ever so bugged me when he never understood that I don't like him like him. I mean I told him that over and over. But I never told him about your feelings."
*Helga repeats her agressive gesture from the school play episode* "Because I would have crushed your bones."
"No, because I like you. Because I respect you, Helga. Gosh, you seem to mix up who your friend and who your foe is sometimes."
*Helga looks away and thinks "Friend?". Lila looks at her, then puts an arm on her shoulder*
Lila: "I never stood in the way of you and Arnold. And I'm ever so certain that the only person who does...is yourself."
*Helga's eyes widen, then she looks down* "I know, Lila. I--"
*Helga snaps out of her soft side and harshly moves her shoulder away*
Helga: "Oh, for the love of.. what's it to you, anyway? Quit it, enough of me and Arnoldo!"
Lila: "But Helga, maybe I could-"
Helga "I said QUIT IT!"
Lila: "Ok, ok...gosh..."

Helga's glare shoves off and she rubs the back of her head "Um... tha...thanks anyway for your words. I feel much better now.."
Lila "Least thing I could do. Now, how do we get out of here? It's getting dark, Helga..."

The scene there is pretty interesting, and I like the idea of Lila actually talking to Helga about how she was never in the way of her and Arnold. But, she kinda was. Arnold liked her, and that was the problem. She didn't MEAN to stand in the way, it just kinda happened. *Shrugs* But it's an interesting idea. Lila was a little out of character there, though. She seemed pretty irritabe and wise and straight forward, but she's more pleasant and naive than anything. And I don't think she'd actually confront Helga about her being angry at her all the time. I don't even think she's exactly sure why. She's a smart little cookie, and she's agonizingly sweet, but she's probably a bit confused by Helga. But she probably ignores the way Helga's always angry at her. She likes to pretend every little thing in the world is just hunky-dorey, you know? Maybe we should just focus more on Hega realizing that Lila isn't as bad as she made her out to be. *Shrugs*

Actually, looking closely at the scene in Romeo and Juliet, Lila had this knowing look on her face that Arnold usually has. You know, her eyes half open.

Also it seemed that she was tracing Helga to the confession pretty clearly after the thought crossed her mind that Helga wants the role to kiss Arnold. She just expressed herself in her "naive" way.

That's also the point of showing that Lila does notice the bad things in life, but focuses on the good things.

She understands many things clearly just usually doesn't talk about it directly, (another good example of this is in the end of "Timberly loves Arnold" where she clearly heard Arnold was hanging out with Timberly so he could make Lila fall in love with him)
So yes, she was out-of-character in the scene I wrote.

I still think that scene could work if we change it some.
I like the idea of her expressing her thoughts about not being in the way of Helga and Arnold and telling Helga she is more in the way herself.
Lila was indirectly in her and Arnold's way, at least not by her actions, so also not in her own opinion I think.

I also think that "friend" suggestion is still a good idea, because Lila might actually see herself as one of Helga's friends, not a a close one though. It's like a step forward in their relationship here, but then again stopped by Helga.

So, let's change the dialogue. Maybe it could work like this? :

Lila: "Gosh, Helga, you really seem to be jealous of me. All the fear you have is ever so ridiculous, you know?"
Helga: "Fear? Me? I don't have any fear, and it's not like I am jealous of you! You two just bug me!"
Lila: "*sighs* Don't you remember the school play?"
Helga: "I might. So what's your point?"
Lila: "I'm almost certain I supported your love for Arnold back then."
*Helga's eyes widen and she looks in shock.*
Lila: "Besides, I never told him about your feelings."
*Helga repeats her agressive gesture from the school play episode* Helga: "Sure, because I would have crushed your bones if you would."
"No, because I like you. Because I respect you, Helga. Gosh, you seem to mix up who your friend and who your foe is sometimes."
*Helga looks away and thinks* "Friend?". Lila then puts an arm on her shoulder*
Lila: "You know, I don't like him like him...well, like you do. So to be perfectly honest: I really think I never stood in the way of you and Arnold. Not on purpose, that is. And I'm ever so certain that the only person who really does... is yourself."
*Helga's eyes widen, then she looks down* "I... I..know, but--"
*Helga clinches her fist and snaps out of her soft side*
Helga: "Oh, for the love of.. *she harshly moves her shoulder away* what's it to you, anyway? Quit it, enough of that silly talk!"
Lila: "But Helga, maybe I could-"
Helga "I said QUIT IT!"
Lila: "Ok, ok...gosh..."

Ooo I like this idea. ANdyanamic your second script was a lot more in character, good job. Although, you might want to keep that scene open for changes depending on how the rest of the plot comes together, you know? Even though its an important scene its just one in many that will make up a very relieving episode. If i get any ideas I'll let you know, but I do adore this idea.

I personally would love to see an episode where Helga gets over her resentment of Lila. Lila, of course, would begin to understand why Helga acts like she does toward her. And maybe Helga could even find out that Arnold doesn't like Lila anymore. That would be a major step in furthering the friendship between Helga and Lila. I think they understand each other in a way, really. They have a very interesting dynamic.

I really like your second scene, ANdynamic. All the lines sound like things the characters would really say. x3

All I know is that:
*Helga and LIla get stuck at school
*Helga focuses on Lila's negative aspecs
*Lila focuses on Helga's negative aspects

I don't know why they get stuck, though. Any toughts?
