Harold Toughens Up

I thought of this while watching The Simpsons episode, The Fat and the Furriest.

So, we all know that even though Harold thinks of himself as a big strong bully, he's actually very soft on the inside (usually noticed when he runs away, screaming "MOMMY!"). Once in a while he's been made fun of by people because of this (mostly Helga).

So, how about this. Somehow something embarrasses or scares Harold (like another Bully or an angry dog) so much that he humiliates himself in front of a ton of people. Afterwards, they don't take him seriously, and Harold finds himself becoming "wimpier" the more he's taunted. (i.e., crying to his mom more often, not able to stand up for himself, wearing footie pajamas to school...)

So, Harold attempts to get back to his bully self. He could come to Arnold for help... or, because Arnold isn't a bully, he could go looking for help from Helga or Wolfgang

Actually...that sounds like a really good idea. =O I always thought that issue needed to be addressed. I mean, why in the world is everyone scared of the kid who literally once wet his pants within the course of the series?...XD
I think it would be REALLY funny if Harold first went to Arnold for help, then Arnold is like, "Violence is never the answer, Harold," and Harold goes, "Awww, that's so USELESS!" and then seeks answers from Helga. XDXD

I agree that this is a great episode idea.

And I like Meganium's idea that Harold would totally blow off Arnold's advice and go beg Helga to help "toughen him up". Of course, Harold wouldn't want anyone to know he went to a GIRL for advice, and of course Helga wouldn't be initially willing to help out Harold unless there was something in it for her. This gives a lot of opportunity for comic potential...

Harold approaches Helga tentatively in the hall at school and and accidentally bumps into her.
Helga: "Watch where you're going, you big Oaf!"
Harold: "Actually, Helga, I need some advice..."
Helga: *rubbing it in and relishing the moment* "Well, well, well, if it isn't the big BABY of P.S. 118 come to get advice from a girl!"
Harold: "Shut your trap Helga, or I'll pound you!"
Helga: "You're not exactly in the right position to be making threats, Pink Boy. So spill it; why should I help you? What's in it for me??"

And they could then strike some kind of bargain where Helga gains something trivial, like money/candy, and she in return gives Harold secret "toughness" lessons. Of course, since Helga's getting paid periodically along the way, she doesn't put much effort into Harold's training, and ends up leading him astray- i.e. her lessons aren't really helping- at which point Harold could learn a valuable "Hey Arnold-esque" lesson. (While still staying true to his original nature of course.) I think if maybe in the end Arnold gave him some wise advice and then Harold misconstrues it, that would work...

Arnold: "Harold, real strength doesn't come from lessons or mean words; real strength is inside."
Harold: "...yeah... I get it now... So what you're saying is if I believe I can pound someone, then it doesn't matter how physically strong I am! Aw thanks Arnold!"
Arnold: "...That's... not really what I meant at all Harol-"
Harold: "Shut up Auh-nuld, I don't need to listen to you!" *runs off laughing*
Arnold sighs.

Also, let's not forget that this episode would have great potential for Harold to call Helga "Madame Fortress Mommy" under his breath!

Well I was just thinking, if Helga's reason to bully or for being tough is because she wants everyone to think she hates Arnold's guts and/or not have a soft side, then, what's Harold's?

I mean all bullies have a reson of being cranky, mean, or tough, right? Well what could be his.?
What if Helga say theirs a secret of being though?(she says something like ,Reason Of Toughnes! (I just noticed it becomes ROT!)
What if he asks her her reason?

(this scene takes place in her room)
Harold: Helga what is your RO-
(Helga gives him the look)
Harold: I mean reason of toughnes?
Helga: My RO- I mean reason of toughnes?
(looks around nervously and then spots her doll, the doll with red hair)
Helga: Doll!... Yes! DOLLS! I hate dolls! (chuckles nervously)
Harold: Then why do you have this doll in your room?
Helga: well, well because I hate dolls so much I use them as a way to pracrice! You know, give 'em the ol' one two! and what nots.
Harold: really?
Helga: yeah! It helps me remind my self to be tough.
(does some sort of tough looking action)

The end!

Well, Helga says herself that she isn't a bully be cause of Arnold, but that's "just who she is." Howeverrr, you have a really good point.

Hmmm, if Harold hung around Helga too much, maybe he'd catch her with one of her Arnold relics, and he'd be like, "What? Why is there a figure of Arnold made of noodles in your math book?" And Helga would be like, "Uhhh well I need something to practice with, y'know, in preparation for (she pounds a fist into an open hand) beatin' up the real thing!" And Harold would be like, "Oh okay; that makes sense." XD

I wonder what he'd carry around.

Hmm, I dunno XD Maybe he'd make an Arnold doll to practice pounding as well, and Helga would see it and be like, "...*facepalm*" XDXD Okay, I admit, that's ridiculous. But it seemed funny when I thought of it. XD

Ahah...not for nervous dudes...

Also, I have a random thought that is not pertinent to the storyline but which would be funny. If this episode idea ever makes it to the art stage, if Harold's room is shown, there should be a photo of Cupcake (a.k.a. Thirsten...that cat from Harold's Kitty) on the wall somewhere. XD

Oh! And maybe Helga sees it and is like, "Okay, first step towards being tougher? DON'T have pictures of kittens on the wall! *tears down photo and puts up wrestling poster*" And Harold's like, "HEYYY BE CAREFUL WITH THAT!! *holds photo of Cupcake almost reverently*" XDXD

Wow, I actually made it relevant to the storyline. XD

Helga would steel it and be like "WHY!"
