Science Fair Empty Science Fair

Post by leilistories Tue Aug 03, 2010 11:41 pm

Okay, so, how about this. There's a science fair at P.S. 118, and Phoebe feels determined to win. When somebody unexpected beats her, she takes it harder than she should.

I have a strange feeling that this has been used before on Hey, Arnold!, but I couldn't find anything where Phoebe gets overly upset because of losing something (except for Phoebe Cheats, but I was planning on something happening like what happened to Harold and Helga in the Aptitude Test episode), so I thought... might as well add this o3o

Homigosh! It did happen in Recess, didn't it? I was just referring to "Little Miss Perfect".

Anyway, that sounds like a good idea to have somebody steal it.

Well from what I remember. . . Gretchen gets help from a little girl ( I cant remember why that girl was there though), so Gretchen shows her her fancy machine and such and where she's hiding it. Later Gretchen finds out that it is missing so she goes to the science fair and finds out that the little girl stole it.
When the judges come up to the little girl the machine goes hay wire and destroys everything. Gretchen stops it and she wins. . .

Maybe someone stole Pheobe's invention but because the stealer has been known for creating outrages machines everyone thinks she's over reacting and they think it was either lost or stolen by somone else. Still Pheobe doesn't give up and she tries to prove its hers.

Maybe someone had fotage of the person stealing it. . .

I dunno, maybe her invention is . . . a perpetual motion machine?

Who would steal it, though? Curly? Harold? Gerald's uncle Jim?

I'm not so sure if someone should steal Phoebe's project, because then the episode will be too similar to that Recess episode. Maybe a better idea is that Phoebe's project is highly logical and adheres to the scientific method and is thoroughly organized, but then somebody has an outlandish, nonsensical, and bizarre project that seemingly would never work that beats it. For instance, maybe a student (I'm thinking Curly) could make something insane like a rock candy powered nuclear reactor that he throws together and somehow works to his surprise (and have a gag where someone says "wait if that thing works then what the heck is in this candy?").

xD That's very true. I like the idea of Curly beating Phoebe with some physically impossible machine. That would probably be enough to get her spirits down.

So I thought of a plot like that reading post.

Phoebe was given a grant for her outstanding project. But later the machine has gone. Nobody knows where. Police where Phoebe went can't find it in the city. So as time past Phoebe's concerns grew more and more.
2 weeks passed as Arnold saw Phoebe going near his house seeking through the street (tired and etc.) Arnold has known about case happened. He talked with her saying to calm down a bit and that "not as creation important but who made it and if you done it once you can do it again". (Phoebe cheers up)
While they were standing near, police went in the open door of Arnold's house, walked upstairs towards the room of Mr.Kokoshka finding him how he uses\sells (or either) details of the invention. Kokoshka tries to explain his friend sold it to him (that could be messed truth).
Phoebe denies it hers to police explaining later to Arnold she doesn't need it 'cause she can do better one. (and that she didn't want Mr.Kokshka to get under arrest).

Depends on what invention it is. Maybe it contained rare details or it cooked food.

I think Arnold should have the Bread Mold experiment. You know, that experiment where you see how fast mold grows on bread. Trouble is, Mr. Kokoshka eats the (moldy) bread, and now Arnold has to come up with a new project-- in one night!

How's that sound?

What about... the return of....

THE SEWER KING!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is his name, right? So the sewer king steals her invention, and uh.... dang. Can this work?

Oh, and Meganium, he could study the effects of moldy bread on the human body. It's perfect.

Incorporating the Sewer King into the Science Fair episode? Uhh...I dunno...Since he never leaves the sewers, that'd be kind of... not likely.

And haha, I guess that would work, but the comic would be over pretty quickly. Smile The point is that he'd have to scramble around for a new project. And then at the last minute, some crazy thing Gertie's doing would give him inspiration. XD

HE doesn't leave the sewers, but he has a loyal army of rats.

I can see Phoebe waiting at the bus stop with her science fair project, and it getting into the sewers from there. Perhaps it falls into an open manhole, or it's small (but very, very good), or the rats cart it off on their backs?

It was just an idea.

However, they've already done several science projects which went wrong in "the usual ways", and where they had to come up with new ones quick. So I actually think the moldy bread idea would be a bit old now. Maybe not. Opinions?

...No. Why would the Sewer King do that? That seems...far-fetched to me. I know that's a stupid thing to say when we're talking about Hey Arnold, but I just don't like the idea. =/

Oh, I agree. As I've written it, it's horrible.
But I'm a brainstormer (now), not a scriptwriter. Who knows, maybe she just drops it in the sewer like Arnold did Phil's watch. I just think the Sewer King can be worked into it.

Of course, maybe I just like the Sewer King Smile.

Well, we'll toss out lots of ideas, and if the Sewer King turns out to be a good way to solve our plot holes, maybe it'll work out. Smile We just need to have lots of possibilities to draw from at the beginning, that's all. ^_^

Maybe just a reference? I can be stubborn... I want the Sewer King.
Maybe Phoebe loses her project, and it goes something like this:

Meeting of PS. 118 gang:
Phoebe: Does anyone have any ideas as to where my science fair project is?
Gerald: Maybe the Sewer King took it?
Arnold: Are you kidding? He's a crazy old hermit who likes rats WAY too much, and stays underground all the time. I doubt he eats.
Gerald: Just a suggestion.
Phoebe: Any OTHER ideas, preferably in English (under breath) though Japanese is good too...
Helga: Maybe you LOST it.
Sid: Like YOU'VE lost your mind!
Helga: WHY I OUGHTA POUND YOU! (does that sound like Lucy from Peanuts)?
Phoebe: No need to get angry... Alright, when did everyone last see it?

*end mock-script*

That would satisfy me.
