Birthday
What if it were Helga's birthday and no one remembers. So she gets really mad, which makes her bully people more than usual. Then Arnold somehow finds out and he tries to give her something, but she doesn't take it because she remembers the April Fools day incident. If this is a flop I don't really care, I just want someone in Hey Arnold to get older.

Re: Birthday
Wouldn't she have to be 11? I recommend we stick to the timeline between 'April Fools' and 'The Journal'. But if you want any kids to grow a year older, we can do it on the other cast (that's not Helga and Arnold and Eugene)

Re: Birthday
If I remember correctly, Helga's birthday is somewhere at the end of March. In "April Fool's Day," right before Arnold gave her the gift that blinded her he said something about her birthday being the week before and then she swoons in her head about how "he remembered!" If you count seven days back from April 1st, that would make her birthday March 25th. Like ger5632 said, it wouldn't really go with the time line between "April Fool's Day" and "The Journal."
But, I don't think the idea of someone in the cast having a birthday is a bad idea at all. Like, what would Phoebe's birthday be like? Or Gerald's? Or even Lila's?

Re: Birthday
I think someone else in the cast (besides Arnold, Helga, or Grandpa) having a birthday would be a good idea, but I think there needs to be some kind of story to go along with it.
There's always the classic: 2 characters have their birthday on the same day and then everyone has to decide which party they would rather go to and then someone comes up with a clever solution in the end...although, I think that story has probably been done to death in other shows.

Re: Birthday
Yeah, they'll always choose the party with the most popular kid, or with the most expensive stuff, but in the end that party will be ruined and they go to the nice kid XD I've seen episodes like that a million times! Wasn't there one in All Grown Up as well? They're fun to watch though.. but maybe a bit too predictable.
But I like the idea of a birthday-episode.
Makes me remember the Arnold-turns-10 comic, that one is awesome!!
I'd love to see a Phoebe episode, and maybe get to know a little bit more about her family.

Re: Birthday
oh yeah, Hey Arnold 10 was a great comic!
What if it were Phoebe's birthday and her parents don't celebrate birthdays and she really wants a party so Helga plans one with the help of other people, like Arnold, or someone else.

Re: Birthday
How about Curly's birthday? Some insane details of the coming birthday party become known, and everyone is too scared to attend it willingly. Meanwhile, Rhonda is tricked into going into the monsters cave
Re: Birthday
Curly's birthday would make a pretty hilarious comic. XD He's just too crazy for it not to be, haha.
I'm favoring a comic about Phoebe's birthday a little bit more though because I love Phoebe. Wouldn't that be interesting and different if Curly and Phoebe's birthday were on the same day? LOL!
On a more serious note, I don't remember Phoebe's parents even being in the series that much which I find unfortunate. The only things I really remember about them is her dad's Japanese and they fence together sometimes. Plus, her mother's from Kentucky. That's about it. Maybe something about how Phoebe and one of her parents (her mom perhaps) have very different views about a fun birthday party. They try to plan one together maybe and their ideas keep clashing. Phoebe, being kinda meek and nice as she is, keeps going along with her mom's ideas until near the end when she's finally fed up and goes "Mom, I don't want to do it like that! I want to do it like this." And her mom could be like "I'm sorry I didn't listen to you...I just thought you would have fun." Maybe make a mother/daughter bonding one and we'd get to know her mom a little more.
Just throwing out ideas once more.

Re: Birthday
I somehow feel that Phoebe's family is too good, and it's difficult to make a story based on it. Dysfunctional people/families are more interesting.
Re: Birthday
Well we can make a story about Phoebe's REAL mother or what happened to her. Cuz when I was a 9 or so I've always been wondering why Phoebe's mom isn't asian . . . hehe . . .
No offense to anyone.

Re: Birthday
Her last name (i.e. father's) is not Japanese either. In fact, are we sure she's Japanese? Maybe her parents met in Japan and since then they are into Japanese culture?
Re: Birthday
I'm pretty sure her father's first name, Kiyo (not sure about the spelling, though), is a Japanese name. Her last name doesn't necessarily indicate her heritage...I have a Japanese friend with the last name Davis.
I think it's safe to assume that the woman shown in the show is Phoebe's real mother, though.

Re: Birthday
Yeah, I forgot about the first name. I guess Phoebe's ethnicity is quite mixed up. BTW, I like to think that she's related to Thor Heyerdahl (maybe his grandniece?) — it kinda creates a link between her and San Lorenzo.
BTW, in the Soviet Union there was a famous illusionist/magician named Kio and his name is Jewish.

Re: Birthday
I've actually heard of Thor Heyerdahl before. We watched a documentary about him in a geography class I took last term, and I thought about a possible link between her and San Lorenzo too.
Re: Birthday
I'm not sure if I already told you... I am sorry if I did. I just have this idea. Thor Heyerdahl was seeking for proofs of paleocontacts between the Old and the New worlds, and of course he would be interested in the Green Eyes people (there are no green-eyed Amerindians, therefore they came from somewhere else, not from Asia; similar to the Blond Eskimos). And as such he was likely to get acquainted with other scientists working in the region. I have described this theory in my fan article about San Lorenzo.
Re: Birthday
I like Curly's Birthday the best!
I mean how do you make a party for a crazy loon?

She may be half-Japanese.. she once spoke Japanese to Helga in one episode. Phoebe's dad also spoke a bit of Japanese to Phoebe (or his wife, I don't remember)

I think her father doesn't really look he's from japan but maybe we can make an episode where her parents tell her about their love story? About how her mother is Japanese but her father isn't but knows the language very well? I dunno just throwing out ideas
Re: Birthday
Her mother is some white ethnicity, her father being Japanese (the before being obvious). However, they decided to keep with the mother's last name.
Re: Birthday
I don't think the last name is all that important. I have a very close friend who is Vietnamese. Her parents were actual immigrants from Vietnam. But her last name is Edwards.
She said that when her dad came to America, he just chose some random American name for himself. I forget his real name, but his name now is Bob. XD So I don't think the last name matters too much. He (Phoebe's dad) just looks pretty Japanese to me. And her mom has a Kentucky accent. That's all I know.

I think having it be Curly's birthday would be kind of crazy... There could be tons of jokes in that. xD
