St.Patricks day episode
I have an idea of a St.Patricks day episode except that I don't know anything about the holiday I just thought it would br funny seeing Helga in a green bow so everyone let's make a plot together, teamwork!
Re: St.Patricks day episode
Good idea.
When I was in elementary school I remember that the teacher would come over early and mess up the classroom on St. Patrick's Day. She would turn over desks and chairs and put green streamers and glitter all over the room, and then she'd tell us that a leprechaun came in and did it (although this was more like in the 1st and 2nd grade, rather than 4th or 5th).
I also remember that if you wore any color except for green or red you would get pinched. If you wore green, you were safe; if you wore red you got kissed.
lol, I know those aren't really plots, but maybe it will help someone else think of a plot.

Re: St.Patricks day episode
lol Wow I never heard of the kissing/red one. And even though the kids are in 4th/5th grade, I'm sure Simmons would be lame enough to blame a leprechaun for the classroom decorations. XD It was a very "special" leprechaun.
A lot of the kids I know on St. Patricks day would color themselves with green markers if they didn't have green clothes / forgot. And this just gave me an idea (I initially had none; just thought this one up right now): what happens if one of the kids thought they accidentally colored themselves with a permanent green marker?
Anyways, that's one possible idea. I just don't want this episode to be a really standard "Oh no! I gotta wear green or I'll get pinched to death!" type of episode.
There's this kid show called "Angela Anaconda" and they did this St. Patrick's episode called "Green with Envy". They had a really standard plot, so I'm just showing you the plot (in the quote box below) to give you an idea of what I DON'T want.
I'll do some research on St. Patrick's and let you know what I find.

Angela is so excited about wearing her new 'highway-worker-orange' windbreaker to school she completely forgets that it is St. Patrick's day. According to Tapwater Springs' tradition you can pinch anyone not wearing green and when Angela arrives at school that morning everyone in her class can hardly wait until recess time to take advantage of Angela's forgetfulness. Angela tries everything she can to get out of recess including trying to get herself in trouble. At the last minute Angela realizes that her new windbreaker is reversible and that the other side is 'frozen pea' green! She triumphantly marches out of the classroom only to be immediately pinched by none other than Nanette. Too bad for Ninnie-Poo, the Tapwater Springs' tradition also state that anyone who does pinch someone who is wearing green gets 'double pinch' backs!
I'll do some research on St. Patrick's and let you know what I find.
Re: St.Patricks day episode
Thanks you guys does are great idea's!
I'll keep them in mind!
I think it would be great if Helga mother (mirium) forgot to buy her a green outfit and Helga only has pink, so Helga think's what's the worse that could happen? When she comes in class I probably think the first to pinch her would be Harold since he's the most obnoxcious and then in the cafeteria everyone starts pinching her, and then even Arnold pinches her so she decides to go outside she has a brilliant idea she gets some permanet green dye (or so she thought) and dyes her bow green so when she gets back no one pinches her and then Eugene (since he's the jinx) trips and falls and his tray goes flying in the air and then Eugene's mineral water spills on Helga's hair and bow."you idiot" she would yell and then the dye runs off and then everyone starts pinching her again and then she stomp's off to the girl's bathroom.
Arnold then feels bad for Helga, so he has a great idea when comes from the bathroom, "listen Helga I feel bad for you, so." he gives her his green jacket, Helga wears it with pleasure she thanks him then comes back to her "but, don't get any idea's that I'm now your friend or anything football head." "of course Helga"
THE END
so how is it?

Re: St.Patricks day episode
Lol you always have your ways of getting the two close all the time huh? xD
I don't think anyone's even gonna think of pinching Helga 'on a counta' she's a girl who hits back
And besides, I dont think Arnold would just feel bad and give his sweater like that...
the least he can do is just give her a 4 leafed clover or something.
and the 'Kiss Me I'm Irish' thing kinda gave me an idea about the 'Kiss The Red Shirted' thing x]
hehehe

Re: St.Patricks day episode
^ It's a cute idea. Kinda reminds me of the guy in elementary school who brought green paint to school to "save" people who forgot to wear green (he painted clovers on our hands ^_^)... I can see Arnold doing something like that.

Re: St.Patricks day episode
Yeah that idea is kinda funny, it's so cute to bring paint to school just to save people it makes me giggle.
I don't if a St.Patricks day episode is a good idea. If it is I need Artists and Script writers, so I can propose the episode but, still we haven't even been done making the plot any ideas are welcome! I also need to know the meaning of St.Patricks day because in holiday specials Hey Arnold wants kids to learn the true meaning of the holiday, so if anyone knows whats the true meaning of St.Patricks day please let me know.

Re: St.Patricks day episode
Well, I'm pretty sure it has an Irish-Catholic background. I'm not really sure how the holiday originated. I don't think you can have an episode about the "true meaning of St. Patrick's day" (not like you could with a Christmas or Thanksgiving episode, anyway). It's kind of a pseudo-holiday like Valentine's Day or Flag Day. I still think that it's doable, though. We'd just have to think of a good plot.
In America it's usually celebrated by wearing green, celebrating Irish roots, drinking a lot, and having to listen to drunk people sing Oh, Danny Boy. Oh, and my grandma always makes corned beef and cabbage every St. Patrick's day (I don't know if that's just my family or if a lot of other people do that too).

Re: St.Patricks day episode
I found a pretty good site that explains most of St. Patty's Day here: http://people.howstuffworks.com/saint-patrick.htm
It used to be a religious holiday of spiritual renewal and celebrating the honor of Saint Patrick (a renowned patron saint), but nowadays it's pretty much a holiday to celebrate all things Irish (and no, it's not always about booze and green ).
That article (link) also mentioned something interesting: The Blarney Stone. The stone is, word for word, "said to give the gift of eloquence (beautiful speaking ability) to all who kiss it". So I was thinking it might be something that Gerald would want to do, if for whatever reason he loses his magic speaking skills. So if we have trouble making it a Arnold/Helga episode, it could easily be a Gerald episode, or even the Sid/Stinky/Harold episode (with the green paint/permanent marker). Remember, not all episodes need to be Arnold/Helga. We want variety.
P.S. Helga4ever, I'm going to ask you to stop double posting (submitting two posts in a row). Please keep the threads clean by simply editing your last post if you have something that you forgot to say. Thank you!

Re: St.Patricks day episode
I really like that idea Tendra. Maybe something like: Gerald loses his eloquence, and he and Arnold try to find the local Blarney Stone (maybe we could put a Hillwood twist on the name, "The Blabby Stone"?)
They would probably be skeptical about it at first, but then Grandpa tells them that the stone really does exist so they try to track it down.
There could always be a sub-plot with Sid/Stinky/Harold too.

Re: St.Patricks day episode
Yeah, I was thinking that there would be a Hillwood City version of the Blarney Stone, since that one is in Ireland. Hehehehehe... the Blabby Stone. XD
And sub-plots are always a definite go.

Re: St.Patricks day episode
A St. Patrick's Day ep sounds like a great idea - I especially like the "Blabby stone" concept!
I was wondering if we could incorporate the leprechaun/luck o' the Irish theme. Perhaps the kids could encounter a small person who they're convinced is a leprechaun (maybe it's just Ernie in an Irish getup, lol).
Perhaps Eugene has an Irish relative that gives him a "Blarney stone replica" which suddenly grants him a string of good luck (and all the other kids immense bad luck)!

Re: St.Patricks day episode
lol, I could just imagine Eugene walking along, whistling a tune, and carrying his Blarney Stone replica; and he's so happy that he's finally found a working good luck charm...but as he's walking across the street two cars crash into each other, and as he walks by a house it bursts into flames, and he's oblivious to everything.
I also really like the idea of Ernie being a leprechaun. Maybe he could tie into a Stinky/Sid/Harold sub-plot (lol, I could even see Harold or Sid being afraid of leprechauns).

Just another thought: Ernie works in construction, right? Well maybe he gets hit on the head by a brick and temporarily has an Irish accent, further fueling the belief that he's a leprechaun.

Re: St.Patricks day episode
I think you could show an Irish accent in a comic strip if you wanted to. Just use some of the stereotypical Irish phrases when speaking (like Aye and Ach!)shameonpretzel wrote:Stupid me - I don't think it's possible to show a change of accent in a comic strip
Whenever I read Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt it's always in an Irish accent in my head because of the way it's written.
Re: St.Patricks day episode
Lol yeah its possible.
Just like in The Simpsons, everytime Grounds Keeper Willie always says a word with a letter "R" he always makes it long. Like "Grrreat Scott!"
or like this one lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rJAw-fuYHk

Or kind of like what the campfire lass sounds like. Except I think Willie and the Campfire Lass are both Scottish. I'm not sure that I would be able to tell the difference between a Scottish and Irish accent, though.
Here's another cool Willie sound clip: http://www.esnips.com/doc/c50a2b79-c19f-426b-88ba-c5d291e866a5/Blue-Pants

Didn't 'Family Guy' do a reference like that? God, they're just stealing from each other now...

lol, I think they always kind of steal from each other. Here's a gif from the Simpsons episode The Italian Bob showing a book of known American criminals: http://captain-obvious.de/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/plagiarismo.gif
Re: St.Patricks day episode
I'm not sure if you guys read Harry Potter but Rowling expresses Hagrid's Irish accent like this:
"I knew yeh weren't gettin' yer letters but I never thought yeh wouldn't even know about Hogwarts, fer cryin' out loud"
Hope that helps

Yeah thats it! thats exactly the kind of accent we need to give to Ernie!
And maybe we can make his "R" words long just for a little gag x]
Re: St.Patricks day episode
Great guys I'll start writing it with the details, I'll collect all of the thoughts you made into one.
I think I'll be finished tomorrow. I also think that I'll make it a boy's gang episode, you know all the boys except somehow Helga is always with the boy gang, hmm. Keep posting thoughts!
P.S. Does anyone know someone who can draw all that!

The Blabby Stone??? ROFL.
Wait- so are you still doing the Wearing-Green thing? What if Harold didn't wear green, and he's going to be pinched and run through the school yelling, "AHHHH!!! MOMMY!!! AHHH I'M SCARED!!!!" or something like that?

I could see the fifth graders targeting Harold in particular. Which is kinda funny and sad at the same time.
I mean, isn't Harold older than Wolfgang and the others?
