Is Chocolate Boy supposed to be in 3rd grade when Arnold's in 4th? And Herald??
Arnold said to Gerald "He's [Chocolate Boy] not even in our grade" in Buses, Bikes, and Subways episode. Is Chocolate Boy a year behind Arnold and his classmates?
And what age difference is Herald compared to Arnold, Helga, Gerald, etc? Harold said in an episode "I got held back a couple of years" and yet he's smaller than Wolfgang.

Because of the episode where Herald has his Bar Mitzvah, it's probably assumed that Harold is 13 years old because that's the age that Jewish boys have a Bar Mitzvah. It's kind of hard to think of Herald as 13 though. That's a huge age difference (4 years).
I don't think they ever actually said what age Chocolate Boy is, but I would say it's safe to assume he's a year behind Arnold's class.

Harold's age is inconsistent. He was in the same kindergarten group as the rest.
It's safe to assume that he's older than most his classmates (except Torvald), but it should not be explicitly stated that he's 13 years old.

Harold has to be 13.
The rabbi said: "A thirteen year old is seen as a man."
And in his dream he says it again: "You're 13 now, Harold. You must do the work of a man."
But you're right Hellerick, Harold was in the same kindergarten.. And he was playing with Sid in The Journal, as a baby..
It doesn't make a lot of sense.. I guess Craig just didn't want to leave Harold out in the flashbacks.

I would rather say that the subject of Bar Mitzvah was so interesing for the show creators, that they decided to make Harold 13 year old for just one episode.

How about the episode Hey Harold, in which he gets friends with Big Patty? Don't they say anything about his age there? He's bigger than Patty, and how old is Patty?
The one I downloaded is in Russian >< So I don't understand a word of what they're saying..

I think it'd be funny to have a 'teen angst' episode with Harold

In Russian, Harold mentions that he was left back a school year, but nothing else. It is not said anything about Patty at all.

Here's what he says in "Hey Harold!" word for word in English:
"Well, I was sorta, uh, held back a couple years. It's not that I'm dumb or anything, okay, they said I didn't apply myself, that's all."
If we saw him in kindergarden with the rest of the class, maybe he kept on getting held back in kindergarden? I once knew a kid who had to repeat kindergarden.

I don't think we should try too much to make sense where there is no sense.

Hmm..
Well Craig did say that writers don't really pay that much attention so I really dont think it should matter much. Although because of the Bar Mitzva thing he is 13, but Chocolate boy (Radish boy?) is smaller but looks to be about a year or two behind the kids
