About the comic books...
If we finished one comic book for instance where would we buy it? will it be all over the world? Because we don't all live in the same country as you can see.
Re: About the comic books...
The comics will be published online, and they'll be free for anyone to view and enjoy.
The url and formats for the final published comics are still tba...the first episode isn't expected to be done for about another year.

Re: About the comic books...
Another year really? Wow I wonder what can I do till then... hmmm... Maybe I'll finish my book.
Re: About the comic books...
Mmmm... it'd also be totally violating copyright violation of Viacom if we were to publish our comics and then sell them for money. So, yes, like Funnybones said, they'll be released free on the internet on Oct 7, 2010. That's our planned release date.
Re: About the comic books...
I know that there's copyright law and so it's impossible, but MAN it'd be cool if we could make actual hardcopies of these bad boys and ship 'em out to people.
I mean, how neat would it be to hold a little fan-issue of HA! in your hands? SO NEAT.

Re: About the comic books...
I'm not sure that there's a difference between fair use for online materials and hard copied material. As long as we didn't charge for the copies, I think they would still fall under fair use. I have a book with a lot of stuff about copyright law in it...I'll see what I can find.
The only thing is that someone would have to pay for the material to make the hard copy and shipping costs.
You're right though. It would be incredibly cool

Well, I imagine the easiest way to distribute hard copies would be to go to a site like Lulu.com or something similar, but then they'd get money for it which I don't think is quite legal and it's all sort of cutting dangerously close to the BAD IDEA line, I think.

Re: About the comic books...
The closest thing that comes to mind when we're talking about making hard copies of a fan-issue of HA! is to convert out comics into a PDF file (or any other downloadable / printable file), which people can download and print themselves. Of course, we're assuming that the peeps on the downloading side won't print them off and sell them, so if we were to do that, we would probably have to have the readers agree to a "Terms and Conditions" kind of thing before they start downloading the comic. That sounds pretty plausible to me...
Re: About the comic books...
Yeah, I was thinking that a pdf version would probably work so that people can print themselves.
My book (which is mostly about writing scientific journal articles, but it seems to be somewhat applicable here) basically says that copyright law for electronic vs. print formats are way too vague to not be taken on a case by case basis. Everyone interprets the laws differently and there aren't too many legal precedents to reference from yet.

Yeah it would be nice to make money but got to keep it legal!
Besides Nick will pick it up I bet once they see the finished product!
I mean it looks so good so far

I don't really care about the making money part. It's more that I think it'd be really awesome to have professionally printed comics.
