Sheena, Helga, and the Artisan
So, while I was "istening" to a lecture in my Math for Liberal Arts class, I came up with an idea for an episode. I started drawing Rhonda combining Mary Blair's style and mine. Apparently combining those two styles results into people looking like Russian dolls.
And that gave me an idea. I came up with an episode with an artisan that loves making Russian dolls to kind of be a role model for both Sheena and Helga. The artisan visits the school to do a little presentation on the history of artisans or something (for their history class, of course). She's also been commisioned by Rhonda's family to do a Russian doll set of them (but that's just a matter of fact and doesn't actually have anything to do with the story). Sheena takes an instant liking to her and what she does, mostly because she's been wondering about what her niche in life should be because everyone seems to be pretty comfortable with who they are (i.e. Phoebe being the smart one, Arnold being the helpful one, etc.). Helga doesn't seem to take a liking to her at first (no suprise there), but when the artisan mentions that she used to go to high school with Olga and mentions that "she's too perfect" instead of worshiping her like everyone does, Helga finds some relief and instantly likes the artisan. Both Sheena and Helga go to her shop to visit her and even help her out a bit.
And then that's where everything just kind of goes blurry for me. I know what lessons I want them to learn though. Sheena will learn that she has plenty of time to find out what she's good at and to just enjoy the now, and Helga will learn that being perfect doesn't equal to beauty or being loved (or something like that, haha).
What are your thoughts?
P.S. Here's the picture of Rhonda I was drawing and I also drew how I imagine the artisan would look like:

Re: Sheena, Helga, and the Artisan
That sounds pretty interesting to me. I mean they never many Helga-Sheena interaction during the series, so that would make this even better. Maybe that artisan lady could show them how to craft dolls or something like that when they go and visit her. So yeah, it sounds like a pretty cool idea!
p.s. I like the drawings!

Re: Sheena, Helga, and the Artisan
They probably tried to avoid Helga-Sheena episodes on the show because Helga and Sheena were both voiced by the same person.
Luckily, that's not a problem for us.

Re: Sheena, Helga, and the Artisan
That's what I had in mind for them to do!
And thanks. It's nice to be approved, haha.
I definately think Sheena and Helga would be funny together. =]

Re: Sheena, Helga, and the Artisan
Well, I was bored so I redrew Danettemarie's picture.
Looks like older Lila to me.
BTW, the matryoshka ("Russian doll" as you call it) is wrong. They are supposed to be nested within each other, but you can't nest a similar figure within this one, because it has too narrow neck. My grandpa was making such dolls.

Wow, I really love that drawing!
And actually Rhonda is the "baby" in the matryoshka set.
And that is so cool that your grandfather made them. We have I think about 4 sets that we bought from when we were still living in Europe. I love them.

Re: Sheena, Helga, and the Artisan
I was thinking about a HA! set. But the question is who should be within whom. It's supposed to be meaningful.
Re: Sheena, Helga, and the Artisan
I've been thinking about that. I've come up with two ideas.
1. Sheena or the artisan will make a set of the gang.
2. After having one of those talks with Arnold, Helga will make a set of his family (including his parents). Doing a good deed, like when she was his Christmas angel.
But those are just ideas.

Re: Sheena, Helga, and the Artisan
Maybe it should be something like Secret Santa? The pupils are randomly assigned to make a Russian doll of one of their classmates (who makes whom is kept in secret, it's supposed to be a surprise).
They could also be arguing about who's supposed to be the largest doll, the next doll etc.
In the end they would make a doll/set of their gang.

Re: Sheena, Helga, and the Artisan
I like that idea also. I also like the idea that Helga makes Arnold's family. I could see it happening.

Yay! I'm glad somebody's likes this. This one doesn't seem to get too many nibbles.

I think it's a neat idea... and she could leave a note inside them too like don't give up hope, and Arnold wouldn't know it was her.
I was thinking about it in English class tonight. (while doodling myself in Arnold style)

The note idea is a great idea! I wonder why I didn't think of it before. =]

thanks.
I was trying to think of how the dolls would go in order. probably Grandpa, Miles, Grandma, Stella, Arnold... or something like that.

Yeah, but where Helga could learn from about Miles and Stella, and how they look?

Well, doesn't Helga already know about his parents? Actually, I think everyone knows about them.
And I'm sure the way they look is not like a big guarded secret. And Helga has been in Arnold's room/boarding house a number of times, so she may have seen a picture of them around.

I think Arnold keeps his the Journal and the story of his parents in secret. Arnold talks to Grandpa about his parents in private.
On the other hand Helga has already seen his parents and even kinda communicated with them (in a flashback in The Journal episode). Maybe Helga should remember them? Maybe she has a kind of story with them of her own?
Re: Sheena, Helga, and the Artisan
I don't know, maybe. I was mostly referring to the begging of The Journal episode when Arnold is talking about his parents with Gerald and Helga eavesdrop on the conversation.
Re: Sheena, Helga, and the Artisan
I understand. It's just I think that the best gift Helga could give Arnold is some kind of information about his parents, probably a story from the past.
Re: Sheena, Helga, and the Artisan
I think I understand where you're getting at...
What kind of information would it be? And what kind of past?

Re: Sheena, Helga, and the Artisan
This idea has much potential ...
I would love if they could somehow reveal the hidden feelings that everyone feels for each other
subtly of course, with the excitement of always
could it be?

Re: Sheena, Helga, and the Artisan
Yeah, that's why I would I prefer the classmates to make dolls of each other, rather than Helga making dolls of Arnold's family.

After thinking about, that makes perfect sense. This episode was supposed to center around Helga and Sheena, so going into Arnold and his parents kind of takes away the purpose of the episode...
